Apps for Wine Lovers Find Their Social Side

A Schrodinger-like quality has taken over the wine realms lately. If you don’t snap a bottle shot when you drink a wine, was it really consumed? To that end, several wine apps have finally matured to effectively be able to help us organize our drinking lives. I’m most upbeat about Delectable ( www.delectable.com), founded in 2011 and headquartered in the Mission District. It aims for something akin to a wine-focused mashup of Instagram and Facebook. That’s an imperfect analogy, but it captures the ethos that Mark Zuckerberg once saw: Getting all up in your friends’ business, in this case what they’re drinking, is the key to a killer app.  Read more…

VinTank’s Twist

Apps that encourage social sharing and networking such as Delectable are changing the way people share and track the wines they enjoy. Delectable’s understanding of how people experience and are influenced with wine is bringing down the barriers and stigmatism commonly associated with wine and even bringing consumers closer to the winemakers themselves.

Wine trends: Charting wine’s influence on Canadian culture

Social media and smartphone apps have empowered Canadians to break free of the old school snob appeal associated with wine and have fun with it on their own terms. Trend Hunter’s Jeremy Gutsche says we’re becoming “everyday sommeliers” thanks to increased access to winemakers via social media and user-friendly smartphone apps that help us purchase, pair and cellar wine. VinTank’s Twist

Wine is a shared experience and social media is not only removing the barriers of sharing those experiences but also enhancing the experience by bringing every consumer closer to the brands and the people behind the wine. Access to industry experts and other influencers are helping customers everyday in topics such as choosing wine, parings and storage.

The Vintage Point, Episode 1: Tasting Room Experience

This is our first episode! We hope you enjoy. In this episode we share best practices for growing direct to consumer sales and wine club memberships via your tasting room. We drink wine, talk the dark art of serving to tasters, debate best practices for growing your wine business via the tasting room and gush over our favorite tasting room experiences. This episode was recorded via Google Hangouts, the technology is still behind at some points, just a slight delay 3 or 4 times. And Augie, my 3 year old mutt makes an appearance as well. We hope to get the kinks out by the 2nd episode – I hereby vow to not talk as loud and to slow down my speech! Again, hope you enjoy the show!. Read more…

The Art of Writing Great Google+ Posts

There’s no denying it: we love Google+. Sure, we’ve made hay over other social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. That’s because it’s smart to be where your audience is … to engage them there, and then direct them back to your own digital property. But Google+ is something different. It’s why we’ve gone out of our way to teach you how content creators can build authority and an audience on Google+ … the critical role Google+ plays in authorship and online visibility … and why it’s the best social site for content marketers. High-level stuff. Read more…

VinTank’s Twist

It is true that it makes sense to be where your audience is and for most that will be on Facebook and Twitter. But for taking your influence and content to the next level, Google+ is the place for growing your audience based on the publishing tools and search engine optimization from the all-powerful Google.

3 Ways to Convert Instagram Followers Into Customers

Yes, Instagram has been a boon for brands — a self-promotion-safe space to showcase products and connect with consumers. Brands have been investing in adding Instagram followers. But since this digital quasi-catalog is limited to photo and video sharing without click-throughs to ecommerce, Instagram’s ROI isn’t as clear as Facebook or Twitter. How can brands convert likes and follows into visits and customers? Read more…

VinTank’s Twist

Just as with the other social platforms, Instagram is very much a conversation. So much is contained in each photo or video and for brands there is plenty of opportunity to depeen relationships with your customers in easy ways. Starting with liking your customers pictures of your products or location and continuing with tips like the ones showcased here, Instagram becomes a major channel and source of brand ambassadors and future customers.
